Androgenic Anabolic Steroids Use in Pakistan From the Perspective of Bodybuilders

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of androgenic anabolic steroids (AAS) use among bodybuilders in different cities Pakistan. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 380 utilizing convenience sampling from Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. The was conducted over a period 6 months January 2019 to June 2019. sample included male aged 18 50 years. basic demographic sheet self-designed form were used collect data. SPSS software v. 21 utilized for statistical analysis. chi-square test observe any relationship with P<0.05 as significant. Results: current showed 109 (28.68%) AAS testosterone being most commonly used. A total 54 people (49.5%) self-administration, 38 (34.9%) it short-term while 27 (24.8%) long-term. Bodybuilders mostly inspired by peers 73 (67%) encouraged coaches 62 (56.9%) AAS. Regarding knowledge AAS, its usage, benefits, side effects, majority (89%) had little or no knowledge. Conclusion: concludes that is quite prevalent Pakistan 28.68% mainly using preparation, age 20 40 consuming Peers main inspiration their (56.9%).
